Another year at Zena Recreation Park is fast approaching and we are writing to inquire of your interest in a summer position with us. In trying to anticipate your questions, the Human Resources Committee has developed the following fact sheet and employment application. COMPLETING THE APPLICATION:

Applications will be accepted at ZENA RECREATION PARK, INC., C/O Lisbeth Danner 270 Dutchtown Road Saugerties NY 12477.

  • Positions will remain open until filled with filing date by March 15, 2010. Applications received after that date will be considered only if there is need to consider other applicants. Please note interviews will be conducted when applicable and on a continuous basis and applicants are encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible.

  • Remember to sign and date your application. (using black ink and print legible or typed). When sending in your application also attach a copy of your current lifeguard certification, First Aid and CPR cards. 

  • Under the Experience section on the application, make sure you fill in how many hours per week you worked if it was less than 40 hours, in addition to the months, days and years you worked for various employers.

  • If you need more space than is provided on the application to tell us about your previous and/or current job experience, attach additional sheets of paper to your application. Make sure you sign each sheet and write your social security number on each.

  • Be sure to tell us about applicable volunteer experience. This should be included in the Work Experience area of the application.

RECRUITMENT/SCREENING PROCESS:

  • The minimum age for employment is 16, as of June 16, 2010.

  • Please provide complete information on your application – remembering to include your previous employment with us and include copies of all pertinent certifications (CPR, First Aid, Coaching, etc.).

  • We do not interview everyone who applies; however, we will not hire a new employee without an interview and a water skills evaluation if applying as a lifeguard.

  • Written notification and a contract will be sent to those applicants that will be hired as these decisions are made. Written notification will be sent to those applicants who applied but were not hired, but not until all positions are filled. Generally, these letters will be sent out by late May.

PROGRAM INFORMATION-LIFEGUARD-POOL POSITIONS:

  • There is a mandatory training/team meeting day prior to the opening of the pool.

  • These positions require lifeguard, First Aid and CPR certification, an applicant is required to have current certifications of all these at the time their employment begins. Training in CPR and First Aid will be offered during the mandatory training day, you may also obtain it through the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.

MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION:

  • If under age 18 working papers and a parent signature on the employment application are required. Also, Federal Law requires documentation demonstrating eligibility for employment in the United States. In most cases, applicants use one of the following combinations: 1) driver's license and birth certificate; 2) driver's license and original social security card; or 3) a US passport (current or expired). There are more documents that can be used to verify that you are eligible for employment; the examples cited here are the most common. If you do not have a driver's license, you can obtain a photo I.D. from the division of Motor Vehicles that can be used in lieu of a driver's license.
